Data from a multicenter, randomized, double-blind,
parallel-group trial comparing NEXIUM 40 mg with lansoprazole 30 mg
administered once daily to patients with endoscopically diagnosed EE.
*Log-rank test at 8 weeks when comparing NEXIUM 40 mg vs lansoprazole
30 mg across all grades.
The most frequently reported adverse events with
NEXIUM are headache, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Symptomatic response
to therapy does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy.
As with all
PPIs, patients treated concomitantly with warfarin may need to be monitored
for increases in INR and prothrombin time.
